Visualization Boards – Do They Work?

Absolutely! They help you to focus on your goals and desires and keep you on track. For anyone that doesn’t know what a visionboard is…it’s simple a piece of card board or maybe a picture frame, where you paste up pictures and images of the things you desire. Or you can create one super visionboard right on your computer.

Can you make your own? Certainly! Get yourself a large piece of cardboard…the kind that teachers and students use to paste up pictures.

Then simply cut out pictures of images and people, places, words, poems, anything that jumps out at you. Look for things that truly inspire you and make you want to take action. You gotta have passion on your visionboard, otherwise it won’t motivate you.

Then spend five to ten minutes everyday looking at it. Put it up on a wall, somewhere so that you won’t forget…always keep it within close reach.

Visualize, believe, and trust that the things you desire will come your way…and they will.  You’ve got to have faith that you’re worth it.

Weight loss – Is There An Easy Solution?

If you’ve struggled with weight loss over the years as I have, you get pretty tired of trying all the fad diets, trying to lose that fat and keep it off period! We always seem to regain the weight sooner or later. Why?

Well there are a couple of reasons for this, as I discovered after much trial and error and just as much research. I too have struggled over the years with weight loss and weight gain. So what’s behind this? First of all it’s rarely about food! We may over indulge in certain foods and or alcohol, but there is usually an emotional issue at the root it. We may not be aware of it, as it’s often unconscious.

So how do you know if you have such issues? Well, look at your results. If you are constantly failing at your efforts and or sabotaging your success then you need to do some soul searching. You may have some emotional issues at the bottom of this. These issues are very often the result of an incorrect or unhealthy belief. These beliefs stem from childhood experiences and or trauma. If you have unhealthy beliefs about yourself, you will never fully succeed at weight loss, or any endeavour until you deal with them.

Can you change unhealthy beliefs? You bet you can! I have written a series of articles (the ‘thinking thin’ weight loss series) which covers the steps to do this, and to achieve healthy, lasting weight loss. I”ll write more about this in a future article.) If this sounds dificult it isn’t. You just need to do a little mental/emotional work, so you have an understanding of what’s motivating you to sabotage your efforts. When you’ve got that, the rest is easy.

For now there are a a few simple steps you can take to get started with your weight loss program. The first one is, take a look at your eating habits…your emotional eating habits. When you over indulge take note of how you were feeling…stressed, angry, depressed? Then ask yourself why you need food to deal with how you’re feeling? You may get an answer like, “it makes me feel better”, or “I forget about how awful I’m feeling”. This is a coping mechanism…an attempt to deal with the problem. But it does nothing to of course to solve the problem or to change the way you’re feeling. It just postpones the moment when you have to deal with the feelings, and then it adds that element of guilt that goes with over indulging…so you’ve compounded the problem.

Find another coping strategy that doesn’t involve food, and you will have a good start to the discipline you need to easy weight loss. Understanding the emotional triggers that sabotage your weight loss efforts is key. Then you need to deal with the matter of your personal beliefs about yourself, which also contribute to the self- sabotage. lffor example you have feelings of low self-esteem, of feeling unworthy of being loved…do you think that would have an impact on how successful you are, in your attempt to lose weight – meaning looking good and feeling good about your self? I don’t think you’re going to allow your self to feel that good, if you have low self-esteem issues. Am I right?

In the next article I’ll talk more about these beliefs, which most people are not even aware of, let alone understand. So your homework is to give some thought and attention, to how you sabotage your self. What are the emotional triggers, when does the emotional eating happen?

    “EFT”

I first published a post on EFT (emotional freedom technique) back in Feb 25, 2009 on one of my other blogs http://successinsixminutes.com. If you’re interested in reading it check out the archives.  (my apologies – I tried unsuccessfully to do a direct link to the article)

EFT is an amazing tool you can use to disolve old issues, fears and doubts that may be keeping you from the success and happiness you desire. And yes, it has been used successfully in weight loss! As we know, weight loss is seldom about food and almost always has a an emotional component.

Anyone can learn EFT and benefit from it. It is a technique similar to acupuncture but without the needles and uses a tapping motion on the body at certain meridian points.

For serious issues such as phobias and past taumas, a practitioner is recommended. But for less dramatic issues such as confidence, abundance and weight loss you can do it for yourself. I have used it to good affect with fears and doubts about myself, as well as for issues with difficult people. I have to keep reminding myself that I have this wonderful tool at my fingertips and should use it more often. Go here and check it out.  It’s an amazing tool! I am also putting some links up for specific EFT issues.
